Delivery of Services – roads, footpaths, drains and rubbish
Best practice construction standards to decrease cost of annual
maintenance. Do it properly, whether it be a road, footpath, a public
drain or management of rubbish disposal.
Provide sporting and other community facilities to support health
and wellbeing.
Ensuring planning decisions are consistent, fair and made within a
reasonable timeframe
Applicant’s lives are put on hold when routine Council planning
decisions can take months or years. Lengthy delays should be
investigated, assessed and accountability improved for unreasonable
delays.
The Council can do better.
Supporting local business
We must ensure our townships are clean, safe and adequate parking is
available.
Keep our rural character by supporting local businesses and rural
industries.
Reducing costs
Ratepayers money must be spent wisely and effectively to ensure it
provides what the community needs and this money needs to be spent
equitably across the Shire.
Preserving our Natural Environment
Council plays an important role in the protection of our most valuable
asset, our natural environment. Public parks, forests and trees, the
preservation of wildlife corridors; this is what makes our Shire . Let’s
lead by example. Our Council should offer support for voluntary
conservation of habitat on private land.
New developments need to respect and maintain the character of
the Macedon Ranges. Let’s strive to find innovative solutions to the
problem we all face. In doing so let’s ensure we maintain our natural
environment for the decades ahead.
Appropriately managing tourism events to maximize benefit
Macedon Ranges is a beautiful region just an hour from Melbourne.
Visitors are attracted to our major events. We need to ensure these
events are managed to provide maximum benefit to our local
community.
